Resolved Question: Need to find a place for a wedding reception in Fort Myers. Does Anybody recommend Junkanoo’s banquet room?
We are getting married on the beach behind Edison Beach House. I like the idea of Junkanoo’s being close and our guest using the trolley if they need to, but I’ve seen mixed reviews about the restaurant. We live in Oklahoma and can’t get down there to see it. We don’t mind finding a place a little further away. We need to decide soon though. The wedding is in June.

Resolved Question: do you know what the 2005 Stella Awards are??
Just when you think you have seen it “all”….

2005 Stella Awards!

GG: The US Tour – Vegas and beyond! « Gaarawarr Gabs
So food is about as synonomous with Vegas as gambling, but I have to say, there are some crappy places to eat in Vegas. The first nite I was there, I just went down to the cafe in the Luxor and ordered food. …. I think it’s cuz it was one of the few fast food places in the tiny town we went to for groceries and where I ended up going to high school at in Oklahoma. I immediately pulled in, hit the button and ordered up an extra-long coney with chili and cheese, …  read more…

Resolved Question: What are some must sees in Phoenix?
I’m taking a trip to Phoenix in August and will be there 9 days. Aside from a trip up to see the Grand Canyon, what should I do? Any places I absolutely have to eat?
I grew up near an Indian reservation and have family in Oklahoma, so, while I’d like to see cliff dwellings and cave paintings, the touristy Indian stuff holds very little appeal.

Resolved Question: Crazy laws still in the books.?
So not a current event exactly, but these laws are still in effect and it’s interesting to see how far we’ve come and how crazy it was that these laws actually got passed. Feel free to share any you know of.

Arkansas - A man can legally beat his wife, but not more than once a month.

California - Peeling an orange in your hotel room is banned.

Conneticut - It is not allowed to walk across the street on your hands.

Illinois - Chicago prohibits eating in a place that is on fire.

Kentucky - Law only allows burglary to only be committed at night.

Louisiana - It is illegal to rob a bank and then shoot the teller with a water pistol.

Michigan - A woman’s hair belongs to her husband. To get anything done to it she must first have her husband’s permission or she could go to jail for up to 12 months.

Oklahoma - In Tulsa, it is illegal to open a soda bottle without a licensed engineer present.

Oregon - It is illegal to sleep in a refrigerator.

Texas - Criminal are required to give their victims 24 hours notice, either written or orally of the nature of the crime to be committed.

Those are just a couple I like.

Tumblr kateoplis:

In the June issue of Men’s Health, Anthony Bourdain writes about “13 Places to Eat Before You Die”:

Any seasoned traveler can tell you that the “best” meals on the planet are the result of an ephemeral confluence of circumstances. A table at the most expensive restaurant in the world does not guarantee a truly great meal. That said, if you’re planning on dying in the near future and want to knock off a list of final, glorious dining experiences, these places would make a very respectable binge. Start with one. Make a reservation today. Go on an empty stomach. Trust me: this is livin’. (via)
